A training session for the Lat-Lit ElderGuardian No. LL-00206 project took place at Klaipėda City Care Home. The training was aimed at familiarizing employees with the sensor system being implemented in the institution and its practical use in the daily care of residents. During the training, employees were introduced to the Care@Home radar-based fall detection system, its operating principles, and its main components – radar sensors, the C7000 control panel, and the online Care@Home platform. The training participants were introduced to the purpose of the sensors, their installation and usage requirements, the system’s operating process, and staff response actions upon receiving a warning signal about a possible resident fall. Particular attention was given to practical aspects: how to recognize system notifications, how to respond to a warning signal, how to assess the situation in a resident’s room, and how to record the event in the Care@Home system. During the training, possible challenges related to sensor operation, installation location, connection quality, battery status, false warning signals, and other practical situations that may arise when using the system in a care home environment were also discussed. Employees discussed possible solutions, response procedures, and the most optimal ways to ensure the smooth application of the technologies in daily care. When the system detects a fall, it sends a warning signal to an employee so that staff can respond promptly, assess the situation, and provide the necessary assistance. The training enabled employees to better understand the benefits of the system being implemented, as well as its possibilities and limitations. The purpose of the sensor system is to quickly identify fall incidents, notify staff, collect event history, and contribute to creating a safer environment for care home residents. The training became an important step towards the successful implementation of the ElderGuardian project at Klaipėda City Care Home and the practical application of innovative technologies in the field of social care.
