2026 m. liepos 29 d.
Susitikimo metu Lietuvos ir Latvijos partneriai pasidalijo savo patirtimi, aptarė tolesnius projekto veiksmus, galimybes tobulinti sistemos naudojimą bei gerinti jos veikimo patikimumą. Bendras praktinių įžvalgų aptarimas padėjo geriau įvertinti diegiamos technologijos galimybes ir iššūkius bei numatyti tolesnius veiksmus, kurie prisidėtų prie saugesnės aplinkos globos namų gyventojams kūrimo.
Partnerių susitikimas tapo svarbia proga ne tik pristatyti Klaipėdos miesto globos namuose atliktas projekto veiklas, bet ir pasidalyti pilotavimo metu sukauptomis žiniomis.
On 29 July 2026, Klaipėda City Care Home hosted a meeting of the partners of the ElderGuardian project No. LL-00206, bringing together representatives from Lithuania and Latvia.
During the meeting, the guests were introduced to the fall detection system installed at Klaipėda City Care Home, its operating principles and its practical application in the daily care of residents. The partners were shown how the system detects possible falls, sends alerts to staff and enables them to assess the situation more quickly and provide the necessary assistance.
The meeting also focused on the experience gained during the pilot period, the initial results and the technical and organisational challenges identified so far. Particular attention was given to the correct installation and calibration of the sensors, the monitoring of battery condition and communication quality, and staff preparedness to use the system. It was emphasised that the effective operation of the system depends not only on the technology itself, but also on its proper adaptation to individual rooms, regular maintenance and the systematic reporting of any malfunctions.
The partners were also informed about the training organised for staff. During the training, employees were introduced to the system’s operating principles, its main functions and its practical use in the everyday care of residents. Participants learned how to recognise and interpret system alerts, respond appropriately, promptly assess the situation in a resident’s room and provide the necessary assistance when required. The training also covered the registration of incidents and the collection of information on detected falls within the system.
The preliminary statistical data from the piloting period were discussed and showed significantly better results compared with the period before the system was introduced. The time required to detect falls decreased noticeably, thereby significantly reducing the risk of harm to residents’ health caused by delayed fall detection.
Considerable attention was given to possible practical difficulties, including false alerts, undetected incidents, communication problems, battery condition and differences in sensor performance between rooms. Staff were encouraged to monitor the system closely, record any irregularities and report them to the responsible persons. The training helped employees better understand both the benefits and the limitations of the system. It was also stressed that the technology is an additional support tool whose effectiveness depends on well-prepared staff, consistent response procedures and continuous technical maintenance.
During the meeting, the Lithuanian and Latvian partners shared their experiences, discussed the next stages of the project and considered possible ways to improve the use and reliability of the system. The exchange of practical insights provided an opportunity to assess the technology’s potential and limitations more clearly and to identify further actions that could contribute to creating a safer environment for care home residents.
The partners’ meeting was an important opportunity not only to present the activities implemented at Klaipėda City Care Home, but also to share the knowledge gained during the pilot period.
